As a family business we are able to offer our personal attention throughout, including a 24 hour call out service, home visits to make arrangements at the family’s convenience and a private Chapel of Rest which is available for viewing to suit the needs of the family.
Families are provided with a choice of service when making arrangements for their loved one, these include a service in a church or crematorium or at a woodland burial ground.
We also are able to provide Orders of Service should families require them and these are all produced at our premises which allows more flexibility when these need to be personalised for the deceased and also means that there are no limitations in the numbers of copies printed.
Recently we have had many enquiries regarding pre-paid funeral plans. We offer a plan which is supported by the National Association of Funeral Directors, The Perfect Choice Funeral Plan. Information on the plan is available from our office or alternatively staff are able to visit families at their homes.
Below is a sample of some of the different services that we offer.
Coffins: Rather than the traditional veneered or solid wood coffins, families can now be offered a wider choice for their loved one.
Environmental Coffins are available for families with concerns regarding the environment and a wide choice is now available: Cardboard, wicker, seagrass, woollen and coffins made from recycled newspapers. These are suitable for both burial and cremation.
Veneered coffins are the most popular coffin choice for families. They come in a wide variety of finishes, some plain and simple and some with panelling and raised lids.
Solid wood coffins are available to families in a variety of styles and usually chosen for burials rather than cremation.
Colourful Coffins can add a personal touch to a funeral they offer a wide variety of designs and it is possible to provide personal photos which can then be included in the coffin design.
Horse Drawn Hearse: For those who prefer a more traditional funeral we can arrange for a Horse Drawn Hearse. These are available in either black or white and can be drawn with either two or four horses. A variety of plume colours is also available.
Hearse and Limousines
The hearse and one limousine for the funeral, with chauffeur and sufficient bearers is also an essential part of our services to you, especially when your family's request is to go into church or your place of worship. Unless requested otherwise, if possible, we carry the coffin on our shoulders both into and out of the service. This we believe is the ultimate in reverence and respect and reflects our past traditions. Limousines are charged for separately, this ensures that the family are not charged for something they may not need or want. The charges for the limousines is fully inclusive to cover the journey from the address at which your family require to be picked up, through to your final destination. Each limousine will carry up to six mourners.
Costs and Charges
In all aspects of the funeral arrangements our staff will point out the procedures and whilst arranging the funeral will advise on costs and charges to be incurred, culminating in a full written estimate.
The funeral account itself is divided into two separate parts, the Funeral Directors charges and the Disbursements. The Funeral Directors charges contain our professional fees, these include the provision of a 24 hour a day on call service, our professional services throughout making the funeral arrangements and arranging documentation and necessary personal attendances, the conveyance of the deceased to our private chapel, rest rooms and the use of the same until the day of the funeral. Relatives and friends often wish to visit the deceased and pay their last respects before the day of the funeral.
The disbursements are essentially the fees that we pay out on your behalf. These usually are the fees for ministers, crematorium, churches, doctors, cemeteries, gravediggers and newspaper notices.
